William

My name is William. I am a disabled vet. I suffer from some physical injuries which contribute to my mental illness. When I got out of the military, I had great plans about what I wanted to do with my life. Unfortunately, I had several breakdowns and was hospitalized four times. Every time I got released from the hospital, it was back to the same old routine and the same old environment that were contributing to my mental illness. Except the last time.

The last time I was released from the hospital, my nurse recommended I take a look at Magnolia Clubhouse. I took a tour and fell in love with the Clubhouse. Now instead of sitting at home and staring at the walls, I have a place to go to where I can do meaningful work and socialize with others. Being a member at Magnolia Clubhouse is like having a second family. Here, on any given day, I have many brothers and sisters who care about me and who I also care about.

There is so much to do at the Clubhouse. You can work wherever you want and contribute however you want. I’ve worked in the kitchen, the café, membership unit, communications unit, and the administration unit. These last two years at the Clubhouse have been, for me, a life saver and have kept me out of the hospital.
