Democratic governor hopeful Richard Cordray was in Cleveland to unveil his healthcare plan for the state, which includes keeping the Medicaid expansion, investing in preventive care, and increasing transparency in several programs. Already familiar with the Clubhouse Model, he visited Magnolia Clubhouse to see firsthand how a Clubhouse works and learn more about the potential to help the men and women across the state who live with mental illness.
Apparent was Mr. Cordray’s clear understanding of the mental healthcare landscape and the value of increasing the number of Clubhouses throughout Ohio as an economical and effective resource. We appreciate that he took the time to visit—he asked many good questions.
Advocacy is at the core of the Magnolia Clubhouse mission. With this opportunity to share the importance of the Clubhouse Model—and our aspiration for Ohio to become a leader in this movement—we are beginning to see progress. We are heartened by the fact that the Democratic nominee for governor took the time to visit—thank you Mr. Cordray.
Enjoy the interview that was taped in our brand new media lab—it was a great day at the Clubhouse!
