In its efforts to reach younger adults living with mental illness, Magnolia Clubhouse created the Young Adults Living Life group—affectionately known as YALL. Acknowledging that transitioning into adulthood means aging out of social services provided for children and teens, the group helps to create bridges to services for those 18 years and older.
Since 2016, the group has been meeting to empower younger members to step up and take more responsibility for Clubhouse activities, including social events, tours, and presentations to community centers. Most importantly, it provides an opportunity within the Clubhouse for young people who share many of the same life experiences to come together and support and encourage each other.
“We want young adults who live with mental illness to know that they are welcome at Magnolia Clubhouse—and that it is a great place to get the support they need. Not only will they meet a group of peers here who share many of their experiences, they will make new friends.”
